Emilia Mae

She's here!  Our little surprise bundle arrived last Friday at 4:15pm.

Emilia Mae

Emilia Mae was 55cm long and born weighing 3.85kg.

She has two very excited big sisters who are giving her a lot of love and cuddles.  Hopefully not too much!  She doesn't get to go too long in the day without being kissed or patted, or having her hands and feet grabbed at... I guess she's going to get used to this though.

She is the double of her biggest sister in terms of looks but we'll see if she's got the same amount of drama queen in her as she grows up.

She was named after G's grandma, and the Mae is from my middle name (Maelyn).  And so far she's eating very well and we've had as many good days as bad days sleep wise.  She loves to be cuddled of course and it's quite easy to spend the day sitting on the couch having nice quiet newborn cuddles.

Getting ready for Easter

It's nearly Easter Egg Hunt time of year again and we've been busy getting ready.  That also means having some Easter decorations around the house, just to get in the spirit.

The invitations have been sent and we've been collecting bits and pieces for the big hunt and for decorating.

My favourites for the hunt this year are these Belle & Boo tins.

Which I'm hoping to make little bunnies to put to bed inside the tins, kind of like these ones, but instead of the mouse I'm making a bunny like this little fella.which I found via the Crafty Crow, where you'll find an amazing collecting of Easter crafts.  I'm trying to pick out a couple for the kids to make on the day.

And these bunny pens from Milk n' Soda.

I've also got some badges from Smiggle, Easter colouring in books found at Woolies and of course, so choccies.

The girls have their Easter skirts ready to go, but I need to make something for our littlest family member still.  And I want think I'm going to cut out some of the left over fabric to applique on to t-shirts for the big girls to go with their skirts.  Maybe with the addition of some pink glittler paint to the bunnies on the print, cause if I put pink glitter paint on anything I'll be the best mum in the world.

Now, we just need to finalise the menu and get cooking!

Eagle Farm Markets

We hit up the Eagle Farm markets yesterday, just cause.

at racecourse road markets

Had some brekky, bought some flowers and yummy cheese (which I'm not meant to eat, but honestly surely 5 days out from my due date I can eat some gooey cheese). And bought some ridiculously cheap fruit and veges.  99c/kilo bananas, Polly and Matilda are in heaven.

mmm profitjes

Of course, it's impossible to get away from markets without some face painting and a pony ride, which she did enjoy, honestly!  Polly on the other hand wouldn't go near the horse, she was happy with sitting on her uncle's shoulders.

Waiting

Things have been a bit quiet around here while we're in getting ready for baby mode...

trying to steal a cupcake

The freezer is being stacked, cots put back up to newborn height and car seats re-arranged.

looking for fairies

Apart from that we've just been hanging out.. making cupcakes, looking for fairies and building bikes with Pa.

Little miss #3 is due to arrive next Saturday and I'm booked in to get a much needed hair cut on Tuesday so we're hoping we last that long.  But she's also received her eviction papers for the following Monday... we're not into waiting around here for too long.

New Skirt

Before Christmas I bought some material to make myself a skirt with a shirred top.. super comfy for pregnancy.  I finally finished it the other day (with about 3 weeks to go until little bubbles #3 is due).

New skirt

I've never tried sewing the the elastic in the bobbin before,  it's so easy I think I might need to plan a few more skirts for myself and the girls.  I put a casing in the top of the skirt and put some proper elastic in that too and I didn't sew up the little opening so there's a chance i might be able to decrease the amount of elastic in the top bit and keep wearing it after the baby is born.  Cause I actually like it, which is amazing since it's the first thing I've sewn for myself ever unless you count a few very dodgy attempts during grungy uni days (hello mum's green velveteen dressing gown i turned into pants to wear to a Smashing Pumpkins concert).

Goodbye toes, hello cankles

It is super comfy too, and just in time.  Bye bye toes, hello cankles.  It's so hot and humid up here lately and it's not fun.  My other two girls were well and truly winter babies and I'm not liking this being pregnant in the heat thing.

At first I made the skirt too big, I wasn't really sure how much the shirring would reduce the fabric I'd bought (it's a linen and it reduced by about 1/3 FYI).  Anyway, I cut out a panel and it ended up being enough to fit around Polly so she got a skirt too.  It's ok, we didn't wear them on the same day.

New skirt

2 skirts in 1 week.  I'm on a roll.
