7 weeks, 7 days: Tuesday

We started the day with an extra little person in the bed.  Everyone has a cold and the vapouriser was on in our room for Emilia, but Polly's chesty cough woke her up in the middle of the night, so she came to camp out in our room.

this morning

During the summer months Tuesday is our swimming lesson day.  We go to an outdoor swimming school so it shuts down between May - September.  Matilda has been bugging me for awhile to go to ballet classes so I thought we might give try it out over winter and see how it goes and Tuesday was our first class.

So the big girls got dressed up in their ridiculous tutus and off we went.

first dance class

First off was Polly's toddler dance class, which the mums have to go to (?!).  Anyone who knows me knows that co-ordination is not my greatest skill, and when I learned ballet (at age 5) for the end of year ballet concert my role was to stand there and sing so I was a bit nervous.  But basically we did some actions to a few songs and walked/skipped around in circles so I could handle that.  Polly didn't really want a bar of it for the first ten minutes but then decided it was ok and loved the last 20 minutes.

waiting for matilda's dance class to finish

Next was Matilda's class and all the mums have to go out of the studio for the big girls classes, so Polly, Emilia and I hung out in the waiting room while she danced.  That lasted about 5 minutes before Polly was bored so we went for a little walk and explored the carpark.  Very interesting.

Matilda came out of her class, saw me and immediately started to cry because they hadn't done any 'real' ballet - the girl has very definite ideas of how things should be!  The teacher heard her and told me that she could probably just go up to the next class where they do 15 minutes of tap and 15 minutes of proper ballet so after the school holidays, we're going back to 'real' ballet classes.  I don't think Polly will keep doing her class though, we'll wait until she's a little older.

So back home and while I did some housework Matilda and Polly did some drawing.

And then they 'painted their toenails' with stickers.

they were "painting their toenails"

I finally put the flowers I'd bought on Saturday into a vase.  They had been sitting in a jug of water on our kitchen sink for 3 days.

Then we headed off to have dinner at mum + dad's house on a last minute invitation from my sister-in-law who was cooking dinner for dad because mum and my sister have gone to New York for a holiday (how rude!).  Nothing better than getting a night off cooking dinner some nights!

MondaySunday.
