Sooky la la

Matilda is sick.. and grumpy. It's not fun. She's got a bit of a cold and her nose is running constantly and she keeps coughing and waking herself up when she's asleep. Then she gets even more grumpy because she's so tired and cries more. And she's on antibiotics which do seem to be working but I think they're making her tummy a bit upset cause she's a bit chucky too.

Poor little thing, I feel so bad for her. But right now I'm feeling bad for me too, this is not fun.

So I am having a whinge, because that can be fun.

Also fun is stopping on the side of the road to rip some of these flowers off a tree.

Getting ready for a party: invitations

It's unbelievable to me, but Matilda is nearly 1 and it's time to start planning her birthday party.

I picked out the cake I wanted to make ages ago (I think maybe even when I was still pregnant) so we're having a ladybug's picnic for her first birthday party.

I wanted some fabric in the invitations so I printed out some cards I made and added fabric flowers and grass.

I wanted them to look a bit rough with the fabric so it's just cut out and glued straight on.

And then some pretty matching labels for the envelopes.

I love birthday parties and I have lots of ideas running around in my head but I'm not sure how many of them I'll actually achieve before the big day. We'll see how we go!

1 already, holy cow.

Matilda's Sheets

I finished my flannelette cot sheets for Matilda a few days ago, but it's been so grey and gloomy here that I haven't been able to take a photo. Even today it was pretty average, but I was getting too impatient.

I am really happy with how they turned out. I made the top sheet very wide also which is good for tucking her into bed at night time. Not bad for $5/m flannelette from Spotlight.

On a completely unrelated subject, how cute is this cake tin? It's probably half as long again as a friand tin.

I love it.. I'm just trying to decide what kind of cake should be owl shaped. I'm thinking maybe some kind of brownie?

Craft Night

We have a craft night on the first Tuesday of each month where we get together for dinner and a little bit of crafting afterwards. I can't believe how quickly they are coming around.. this year is half done, Matilda is nearly 1... scary.

Amongst other things this month, us crafters made...

A yo yo hair clip, this is definitely a good craft night craft because you can finish the whole thing at once.

Some more crochet, obviously not by me.

Started some knitting, but most importantly... carried the knitting in a Cath Kidston knitting bag.

And I kept on going with Matilda's quilt. I am really hoping to have it finished in time for her 1st Birthday.

Raspberry Jelly Cake

I saw this post on Meet me at Mikes and figured I'd give it a go, plus we were going to have fish and chips on the beach for lunch yesterday for my brother's birthday and I just knew he'd love a pink cake for afterwards.

It's a really good cake, we all got into it.

In fact a few pieces were eaten while we were still waiting for our seafood feast.

Brisbane autumn days are lovely for picnicing.

Hope you had a nice weekend too.
