Hare Brush

How cute is this brush and comb set for babies.

It is really hard to find a cute hair brush, I love this one. Matilda does already have a pretty white wooden one, but this would look cute in her room.

It's from the Hip Infant.

I wish online shopping had never been invented some days.

Visiting Ma

Matilda and I went up the coast yesterday to spend the day with my Grandma.

We had lots of fun playing with her old card games and looking at all the pretty/funny pictures.

Then we met my sister and mum at the shops and Matilda had her first ride on a merry go round, with us following her around the whole time. She loved it, I think she's a bit of a dare devil. She wouldn't sit down, she kept pulling herself up to stand the whole way. Then she cried when it finished so she got another turn. Time for her to start learning the word 'no' I think, she's in danger of being very spoiled.

(yes, she's covered in chocolate biscuit - I'm such a good mum)

We still don't have our camera back... another shipment of parts is arriving today so hopefully the bit they need for our camera is on it. Lucky for our old trusty little compact.

Marathon I don't know where to start post.

So our camera broke and is still at the shop, waiting for a part before it can be fixed and it just isn't the same blogging without pics so I kind of lost my motivation (it's been at the shop since 3 April!!). But then one of G's friends let us borrow his Nikon D90 last weekend and his 50mm lens and we got our photo fix again. Which has motivated me to blog again and it has taken me until Thursday night to find the time to go through the photos and get there!

We did have our little camera with us so really I was just being a sook but that along with going away for Easter, making a wedding cake plus baby and bridal showers meant everything got a little too hard for me. And now I'm going to catch up with one major marathon blog post.. apologies if it gets boring.

Hope you all had a nice Easter.. we went away with the family down to Kingscliff for the long weekend. It was nice to get away but the rainy weather kind of sucked. Just before Easter, Matilda started to crawl (well in a commando crawl, drag her tummy along the ground kind of way) so she had fun trying it out on the sand. She is getting really fast at it now, although we still haven't managed to get up on all fours yet. Time to go buy a gate for our staircase I think.

I had plans to make Matilda a fabric easter basket, originally like this one but then I got all excited about this one (maybe next year). In the end though as Easter got closer I gave up on that idea but got all excited to see this post on Twig & Thistle (new to me blog that I'm loving) so I was able to make one really quickly and easily for her which then got trashed pretty early on Sunday morning.

She was allowed to eat a little bit of chocolate over Easter but the rest of the eggs she just played with until she crushed and then we either ate them or some went straight to the bin (they were a bit beyond saving).

The week after Easter just flew by, with the Monday off and then I worked on Tuesday & Wednesday before I knew it it was the weekend again. Although I did manage to squeeze in some shopping time.

I bought some cute fabric from Spotty... the yellow one I have no plans for, but the other two are flannelette and the middle one is going to become cot sheets (how much does that look like a Cath Kidston print?), the far one pj bottoms for Matilda.

And a cute kid's apron, which Matilda should grow in to in about 3 or 4 years...

Finally, some new books - good for more planning and less doing :)

Oh and some strawberries, which are still alive. Yay for me.

The weekend was full of baby and bridal showers. I made a little pair of baby shoes to go with my present for the baby shower. I haven't made these before, they were pretty fun, I think Matty may be next in line for a pair or two.

My sister was hosting the bridal shower, so lots of baking was involved. I made some chocolate cookies.

And some red velvet cakes - I've been meaning to try these for ages because I've never tried one and Americans seem to get so excited about them. I used the recipe from here and I did like them but the red is just from food colouring, which I think is a bit weird and apart from that they're really just a chocolate cup cake? The frosting was good though.. I thinking little vanilla bean seeds look so pretty in food.

My sister had a pink and red theme going on, so we covered the tea bag ends to match, as you do.

Pink and red bows everywhere.

Even the food had to match to make it on the menu.

The bundt cake is apple and cinnamon flavoured, and is from this recipe. It was really yummy, you have to try it.

I also made these tarts again (a party staple). There was some of the cheese mix left over, so G and I had it grilled on toast with a little bit of dijon mustard for Sunday breakfast. So yummy. Still not anywhere near as good as the grilled cheesy toast from the Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder, but not a bad substitute for being in Brissie.

And we played with the 50mm lens and took some nice photos of Matilda (if I do say so myself). G wants to buy one of these lens, so it was nice to have one for the weekend to play with and see if we do really want it. We do!

I'm thinking about getting the 2 black and white ones printed on canvas. Has anyone done that before? I'm a bit nervous about spending all that money on them and then having them come out too dark or not the right colour?

I'm hope hope hoping to hear from the camera place tomorrow so I can go and pick ours up but we will see. In the mean time I might try and post again soon, but this time with quite so many of these ones ( )s.

When I'm feeling a bit bored or uninspired I often find myself 'window shopping' on online fabric/craft shops. I often end up adding whole bunch of stuff to the shopping cart so i can make a copy of my shopping wish list before removing it all again (luckily for my credit card). Below is my current shopping list from Belsize Square.

I have a rule though that I can never actually buy anything when I'm in that kind of mood. I don't think I could afford that habit. I do like keeping my lists of things to choose from for when I do buy myself a little present.

I'm thinking that lotus fabric would make a good gumdrop ottoman, I bought that pattern ages ago and still haven't made it.
