Pink or Blue bubbles

Little Bubbles is in trouble!

We had our scan yesterday, I'm 19 weeks now and everything is ok, thank goodness!

BUT... we wanted to know if bubbles is a boy or girl and he/she wouldn't show us! They think it's a little girl but they are not sure so we don't know. So many shopping and making plans out the window. Naughty bubbles.

Knitting

My aunty gave me this baby set for little bubbles.. her grandma and my great grandma knitted it for her in 1976 because she was starting to get arthritis and was worried she wouldn't be able to keep knitting for long. Lucky I'm having a winter baby because it's pretty little and I'm not sure it will fit for long.

I have a big list of things I want to make as well once I find out if it's a boy or girl.. I think I'm going to start with a little granny square blanket, but I also want to try and make a cot quilt and crochet an animal. I haven't done any of these before so it will be interesting.

A spot of shopping

I've been feeling in need of a little retail therapy lately, so the other day I picked up the Frankie Afternoon Tea cookbook and a Lark doughnut baby rattle for little bubbles.

I've already tried one of the recipes from the cookbook, the afghan biscuits. They are yummo.

I'm having my 18-20 week scan this afternoon and hopefully we'll be able to see if we have a boy or girl bubbles... lots of retail therapy in my future after we know that!

Happy valentines day (a bit belated)

We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day.. I don't think G has ever bought me a present for it and I think I maybe got him something once.

Anyway, we did make some 'cupcakes for your cupcake' for the cafe, they were fun to make and I think they looked pretty cute.

Big bags for little people

Long time no speak, it's a bit scary at the moment how fast is flying by. February nearly over already, 2 months gone in 2008 and in 4 1/2 months we'll have a baby already. Freaks me out. I've got to get myself into gear - get our house plans into council so we can start building (hopefully move in before the baby can crawl), finish with our plans for the cafe so we can hire someone to work when I have the baby and get our little studio organised and ready for a baby.

In the mean time I have been doing a little bit of crafting. My cousin and her husband are moving to England with their two little girls in a couple of months and she wanted a little drawstring bag for her eldest to take on the plane with some of her little people. The big bag is for the whole collection. It was good to try making something again.

This is... Sunday lunch

We had a fairly lazy Sunday this week, a little bit of shopping and a little bit of housework.

There was a really nice breeze around so we had a lazy afternoong eating chicken and salad wraps, kind of burrito style for lunch and then watching a movie.

I love Sundays (until about 5pm anyway when the reality of Monday is too close to ignore any longer).

Nesting

I've been lacking a lot of motivation lately, for cooking, sewing and taking photos. I'm hoping to snap out of it soon though, a bit of baking and decorating cupcakes to sell for Valentines Day might seal the deal.

In the mean time I've been wasting a lot of time looking at baby stuff on the internet and I've kind of decorated baby rooms for a boy or a girl.

For a girl, whose name will obviously not be Henry -

And for a boy -

I hope we can afford floor boards like this in our new house, otherwise it might just be chipboard floors for awhile while we save up.

This is where most of the stuff is from:
Print in girls room from Belle & Boo
Mobile from Mamas & Papas
Custom names on wall from Urban Baby
Girls monkey by Anne Claire Petit
Boys quilt set from Dwell Baby
Boys prints from Creative Thursday

I have done a little bit of cooking lately for the shop though. Choc-chip muffins and carrot cake.

Making coffee

There was an article in our local paper last week about how great it is to become a barista - all the travel you can do etc etc and at the end of the article they gave some tips on how you can find a good one.

The article said you had to look for three things...

The first one was about the checking how much crema was on top of the espresso shot, fair enough.
Then it mentioned something about the way the milk was frothed, I can't remember exactly but also sounds fair enough to me.
The third one was the speed in which the person making your coffee can produce coffee art, what the?

I mean I get that coffee art is cool and if you can do it quickly, fantastic. But is that what seriously makes a good coffee? I can't say I've ever enjoyed a coffee more or less because of the picture that comes out on top of it. Maybe I'm just upset because I can't do it yet.

And I haven't posted a this is.. this week because it was about collections and my collections are all in boxes in storage somewhere waiting for a house to live in. Poor collections.
